U-Space, as fast-growing pioneer in the design and operation of high-performance nanosatellites, and FENTISS, a leader in critical software virtualization, have announced the signing of a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) spanning the next 4 years. Formalized last week during the Space Tech Expo 2025 in Bremen, this strategic partnership secures the technological foundation needed to support U-Space’s projected exponential growth in satellite production and integration in the following years.
Under this agreement, U-Space will integrate the XtratuM Next Generation (XNG) hypervisor and FENTISS’ software ecosystem into its system architecture. This collaboration ensures that U-Space’s platforms benefit from virtualization, allowing for the secure, simultaneous execution of critical and non-critical applications on shared hardware —a key enabler for the agility required in the New Space era.
A Partnership Built on Trust and Flight Heritage
This LTA builds upon a solid foundation of technical cooperation. Both companies have already collaborated closely on orbit-proven missions such as N3SS, PANDORE, and SOAP. This flight heritage provides a solid framework for the future, mitigating risks and accelerating development timelines for upcoming constellations.
The teams, who have previously met in Toulouse to align their roadmaps, will continue to work in close coordination. FENTISS’ operational presence in Toulouse facilitates this synergy, enabling fluid technical exchanges that will help streamline U-Space’s integration processes as they accelerate their industrial expansion.

Enabling Scalability and Robustness
For U-Space, securing FENTISS as a long-term partner is a strategic move to guarantee the reliability of its expanding fleet. By leveraging the XNG ecosystem, the partnership delivers:
• Scalability: Facilitating architectures to handle increasing computational demands.
• Efficiency: Drastically reducing integration efforts and optimizing SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power).
• Security: Ensuring strict temporal and spatial isolation between subsystems, vital for mission assurance.

About U-SPACE
Founded in 2018, U-Space designs, assembles, and operates modular smallsats. As a full industrial integrator, the company supports its clients from the initial definition of requirements through in-orbit operations via its own operations center based in Toulouse, France. With its innovative production site, the U-Zine, proprietary software solutions, and two modular platforms, the 12U and the FreeForm, U-Space fully meets the growing demand in the space sector and has established itself as a reference integrator. Combining quality, reliability, and short delivery times, U-Space aims to become Europe’s leading manufacturer in the global smallsat constellation market.
About FENTISS
FENTISS is a Spanish company specializing in virtualization software solutions for critical space systems. Its hypervisor technology enables the secure, simultaneous execution of mixed-criticality applications on shared multicore hardware. With more than 1,000 spacecraft in orbit with its products, FENTISS provides the robust software infrastructure essential for scalable and efficient New Space missions.
